2012 Annual Lincoln Lock-In

The Lincoln Lock In is a fellowship event combined with team building and civic engagement activities for the Illinois Region. Since the event is largely financed by regional funds, registration per participant will be only $25.00 per attendee.

It will be the first Saturday after all Hallmark entries are due to arrive at Phi Theta Kappa headquarters. This will provide the Illinois chapters a time for celebration in that all have survived the annual hallmark ritual. In addition it will allow us the opportunity to tour the state capital and visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum prior to the Lock In fellowship activities.

A popular change last year was eating dinner at Robbie's Restaurant as a private party just for Phi Theta Kappans. This will continue this Lincoln Lock In. Robbies is two blocks from the museum, so the sooner you can email your registration, the easier it will be for making food arrangements.

The Lincoln Lock-In Agenda, Maps, and more can be found in the Download Event Information Section

2011 Illinois Honors Institute / Leadership Conf.

The 2011 Illinois Honors Institute and Leadership Conference came to a close Sunday, Oct. 9. The gathering was a huge success with chapters throughout Illinois in attendance.

Members who attended the three day long Honors Institute and Leadership Conference were treated to educational forums, presentations on a variety of topics, a concert by Peter Adriel, and sketches performed by The Improv Mafia.

The Illinois Region would like to thank and congratulate the hosting chapter for such a wonderful and rewarding experience. Each of us in attendance has now gained new friendships and experienced personal growth in our leadership abilities and understanding of the Honors Study Topic.

Illinois Regional Convention Comes To A close

The Illinois Regional Convention has come and gone once again. It was a warm and humid three days in Southern Illinois but we Phi Theta Kappans thrive under such extremes.

A total of 202 members attended this year's convention and those that attended experienced many team building exercises, educational forums, and were introduced to Southern hospitality and deep-fried catfish curls.

We would like to thank our hosting chapters for doing such a great job at the convention and going out of their way to make us all feel welcome. Many of us left with great stories to tell, new experiences to draw from, and more importantly new lifelong friendships.

New Illinois Officers Sworn In.

June 5th was a bittersweet day for the Illinois Region. On a hot spring morning in Southern Illinois, we said farewell to the 2010 - 2011 Illinois Regional Officers and welcomed in the new. Speeches were given, hugs exchanged, and tears were shed as the power of the officers was handed over to a new generation.

We can look back proudly and see what a success the past year has been for Illinois and thank the outgoing officers for a job well done.

As we look to the future, we can be confident that our new Regional Officers will help us reach many new milestones. We wish them the best of luck in their coming term and we offer them our full support.
